Cartier is one of my favourite brands. More design than horological ingenuity, but what a fu*king design!
Inspired by the top-down view of WW1 tanks (initially called 'Landships' but 'Tank' was used to throw-off internal spies). Louis Cartier set out on combining his love of Bauhaus with the armoured vehicle to create this delicate dress watch.
Worn and adored by countless icons such as Andy Warhol, Cary Grant, Alain Delon and Fred Astaire. This timeless piece is in its ascendancy with a new generation once more.
The 'must de' line was created in 1973 as a more affordable non-precious metal range. The idea being that everyone must own a Cartier and I think they're probably right.
This particular model we have in store is gold plated sterling silver and adorns a striking black dial which only elevates it a the ultimate dress watch. One thing that it holds over the later models is that it's driven by a mechanical, hand-wound movement rather than the more prevalent battery operated quartz models.
Priced at £1150 this is a watch that defines value. A wearable art piece that will only become more sort after as the years go by. I Don't know what an NFT is, but it sure as hell isn't a patch patch on this guy.
